DDM is back with a vengeance!
Site Update
First, sorry for the weird blank feed. Apparently creating a new Archives page triggers a feed. *rolleyes*
Second, I’ve put a new theme on the site! I also added Sexy Comments to make things a little better on that front (although xMark theme has pretty comments all by itself). So, sorry if things break over the next day or two, or if I’m missing some features. Rest assured I’m working to get them all back.
Against the Giants
Well, they’re clearly working on my last nostalgia nerve with the title of this set. Co-opting it for a 4e product without giving some love to the old adventures (which I’ve converted for 3e, and may do for 4e if my group ends up playing it) seems a tragic shame…I guess all those old modules just weren’t fun enough.
Anyway, I haven’t bought any D&D Miniatures since Underdark, except for a few singles here and there for roleplaying sessions. My favorite set by far was Giants of Legend, and so Against the Giants has me in a buying mood again. We’re already going to have to buy some singles to fill out Keep on the Shadowfell (check out this post, with spoiler tag, for a list of minis necessary to run Keep on the Shadowfell), so I decided I’m definitely setting aside some money for a case of Against the Giants. The previews so far are a big reason why.
The Earth Titan gives us a preview of the 4e Monster Manual, and the new take on giants in the D&D mythos.
Here’s a dragonborn whose silver armor and weapon remind me of a metal mini painted with silver paint. It’s kind of funny that both of these figures have the same pose…a pose I always find a bit irritating in the minis.
And finally we’ve got this awesome white dragon! It’s huge, and is posed in a cool way. That thing’s going to look scary on the table, which is the whole point!
Yes, I’m still playing with dolls.
