Boy, there has been a ton of discussion over the terms of the new Game System License (GSL). Perhaps the most surprising is that Wizards of the Coast has pulled the rug out from under publishers using the d20 System logo. They have until the end of the year to sell what they can, and then they’ve got to scrap the rest!
Here’s the money quote from Scott Rouse:
“The license ends in June 2008 so publishers will stop using it at
that point. There will be a sell off period through the end of 2008
for publishers with stock in their warehouses. Product that is sold
and sitting in a store or distributor is considered sold and fine.
There will be no recall of product sitting in the channel.“The major downside is for publishers who have so much stock they
can’t move it in six months. For those who that is the case I suspect
they have larger problems.“PDF sellers will be asked to update their products within that six
month time and remove the logo.”

F**K WOTC. They bought a good working product from TSR and decided to stiff the fans by cutting 4 alignments? As soon as I learned that I gave up on them. I mean, a small mistake is one thing but gutting the alignment system? And replacing it with a hacked up version of the original? I mean, I could understand if they went with the Palladium alignments but WOTC is obviously just trying to make a buck and cares nothing for the fans. And getting rid of gnomes? Who the hell are they? They had a solid system and they destroyed it just to put out an extra edition and piss all over the fans. To hell with ‘em.

I agree entirely, I bought all three of the new core rules books 4th Ed, what a load of shit it is, All I can see they have done is remake the system so it better fits what an MMO should be so once they have converted a lot of 3.5 players they can then sell the license for someone to release an MMORPG and say ‘oh look how much this is just like tabletop D&D’. Its a shitty thing to do to your fans just to make an extra buck, well my buddies and I all agree 4th ed is shit and we have gone back to playing 3.5 ed.
